Modern portraiture

Liz Lindstrom has been creating portraits for over a decade. As Lindstrom has grown as an artist her vision for what portraiture can be has also expanded to include a nontraditional interpretation of the longstanding art form. Words and letters are frequently used in other art mediums to tell their story. by Combining classic portraits with corresponding lettering lindstrom intends to enhance the essence of the subject, emphasize the specificity of each individual, and relate the personal nature of portraiTURE.

Lindstrom begins her procedure for the portrait commission by talking with the client and getting an idea of the individual's personality and character. She then uses her camera to record various poses and expressions. Her goal is to capture a moment, one that will show the inner person through the portrait. She also talks with the family members about the subject, learning as much as she can about the individual. Returning to the studio Lindstrom compiles several compositions from the images, working to bring together her vision and the view of the client incorporating the lettering that best fits the subject.
